JIM CONIGLIARO, JR.

Jim Conigliaro Jr. is a labor lawyer dedicated to hardworking families. After beginning his career as a union organizer for the Machinists Union, he went on to earn his law degree from St. John's School of Law and later served as General Counsel of the Machinists' District Lodge 15. Jim established the Independent Drivers Guild ("IDG"), a non-profit worker center that represents app-based workers, in 2016. Over the years, the IDG has led political battles that have resulted in millions of dollars being returned to drivers, first-of-their-kind worker protections, and innovative access to medical benefits, mental wellness, and financial safeguards for an extremely vulnerable workforce. Today, the IDG has expanded into multiple states, advocating for hundreds of thousands of app workers across the northeast while still providing critical health benefits to workers and their families.

Jim has served on several government, nonprofit, and social enterprise boards, including the New York Black Car Workers' Compensation Fund, the Independent Drivers Guild, the NYC Central Labor Council, the Workers Benefit Fund, and Member Resources.

Today, Jim continues to advise large labor organizations and is involved in a variety of projects aimed at assisting workers while building impactful nonprofits and socially responsible companies.
